I miss my Schwinn Continental; it’s back in Illinois at my parent’s house. Well, I hope it is, if my dad hasn’t done anything with it. For what it’s worth, that is a great little bike. They might weigh a lot, being that it seems to be made out of old gas pipes. These bikes are old Chicago Built Schwinns. The bike was always nice to ride, never seeming to have any problems. I keep seeing a lot of Continentals around Eugene, which just makes me think of mine sometimes. These are the only photos of the bike I can easily find.

About
I grew up in central Illinois. In August of 2007, I bought my first real “adult bike” after needing a bike to save money on gas. Since then I have had many bikes. In April of 2010, after moving out to Oregon, I got my beloved Surly Long Haul Trucker. I have put a lot of good miles on the bike. This blog is about my life in Eugene.

Reminds me of my Schwinn Collegiate. Nice bike to have on a windy day. And it’s safe to say that Schwinn will never make either bike, ever again. If I remember correctly, the old Chicago plant made its own tubing from flat steel stock.
